Spectral Safari Coming to You This July!

June 22, 2010

This July 24th and 25th, come join the hunt for the greatest game of them all. Cryptozoic Entertainment, home of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, will release a streak of Spectral Tigers into the wild. If you want to bag and tag one of these elusive mounts, join the party with fellow World of Warcraft TCG fans at a Spectral Safari near you.

A tournament friendly to players of all experience levels, the Spectral Safari participants will receive—at random—one of the 18 Class Starter Decks and compete in a tournament with that deck. The first 25 players to register for the event will pocket a Landro’s Pet Box code. Players who do well will earn Wrath Gate booster packs, and the winner picks up a Blazing Hippogryph Loot card. The Spectral Tiger will be randomly won as a door prize at the end of the event, so every entrant has an equal opportunity to ride home in style!

I think it's amazing that such a great event happens most often thousands of miles from any actual players. Almost the entire West Coast is excluded from this event and I know from talking to both of the local hobby shop owners that these events are extremely complicated to organize and so are unable to even offer the chance. You guys should really look at your marketing structure. I know this method reduces your overhead in the long run by making the area limited to the public and keeps you from having to actually produce any real effort but you alienate a large portion of the gaming community and you won't have a gaming community to come to when times are bad or you actually have a really awesome product to show off.

I know after the Onyxia's Lair Raid Pack came out that was the last I purchased because I have no interest in supporting a company that continues to shaft my entire state when it comes to events. Our local hobby shop is 45 miles away and even they are thinking of closing down because no one is interested in anything but Pokemon (the only events seemingly that aren't complicated to run) and that you can get the cards at Target and Walmart now often at a lesser price than hobby shops can sell them due to the cost involved for a hobby store to run.

Please do continue to create events, by no means am I saying you should stop I am however suggesting that you make it more accessible to a larger population of players. In order to keep your community you need to breathe life into it and it will die if unattended.

Speaking as, but not for older dissabled war vets who happen to play.... and someone mentioned earlier... make the mounts available on the store page and you'll make a killing. Sure its all nice and well to have something rare for the young gamers who meet the challenges that they can show off and be proud of.... but it would also be great if you offered more buyable mounts for the equally enthusiastic but less adept at the actual game play. Oh and an extra 30 seconds in demon bat morph for the warlock would be awesome too lol.
